On June 7th, 8th and 9th, 2013, 17 Presidents of National Laity Committees – united in the European Laity Forum (ELF) – met at Marielund, at the outskirts of Stockholm.

At this yearly meeting of Presidents we dedicated our work to two main subjects: the preparation of the Study Assembly in 2014 and the spreading of a common statement on the position and the role of lay people in the Church and in the world.

In the common statement – which shows a quotation from the 3rd General Conference of the Latin-American episcopate at Puebla in its title – the members of the ELF express their thoughts on the foundation of their work as ELF in the Church in the middle of the world.

In that context the ELF speaks up for a greater responsibility of lay people in cooperation with bishops, priests and deacons.
